How to make South Indian Green Moong Dal Dosa


Dosa is a South Indian dish. Which is also eaten a lot in India. These are eaten everywhere and are very tasty. Dosa is prepared and eaten in different ways. I will show you how to make Green Moong Dal Dosa. Which is very easy to make and very fun to eat. You can eat this dosa by making it for breakfast. They are also healthy as these dosas are made from lentils and lentils contain proteins which are essential for us.


Ingredients for Moong Dal Dosa Recipe


  • Green moong dal = 1/2 cup
  • Rice flour = 3 tbsp
  • Onion = 1 medium sized finely chopped
  • Green chili = 2 finely chopped
  • Green coriander = 3 tbsp finely chopped
  • salt = as per taste
  • Oil = 3 tbsp


Method – Method to make Moong Dal Dosa


To make dosa, first wash the moong dal with water two to three times. Then soak the lentils in water and keep it for 4 to 5 hours.


After the stipulated time, when you see the lentils, the peels of the lentils will come on top of the water. So throw those peels with lentil water and grind the peels that are left in the lentils with the same pulse.


Then put moong dal, onion, green chili, green coriander and salt as per taste in the mixer jar. Then add half a cup of water to it and grind the lentils smooth.


Grind the lentils smooth, then take out the slurry of this dal in a bowl and add rice flour to it and mix it well with a spoon.


Adding rice flour will make our batter a little thicker. To make it thin, add some water and mix it.


Then heat a non-stick tawa (griddle) on low flame. When the tawa becomes hot, switch off the gas.


Now pour the batter on the pan and spread the batter in a thin round with a big spoon. Now light the gas and reduce the flame.


Let the batter cook on low flame till it turns golden brown from the bottom side. Apply oil to the edges of the batter. So that it can easily come out from the pan.


After pouring oil on the edges, spread oil on all the batter with a spoon.


When our dosa turns golden from the bottom. Then fold the dosa and take it out on a serving plate.


Cook the rest of the dosa in the same way. You can eat dosa with coconut chutney, tomato ketchup or green coriander chutney.
